[ Exploring SRH Frontline Implementer Needs In Humanitarian Crises ]

Role

Service Designer / Design Research Lead at Scope Impact

Outcome

Identified six key opportunity areas for a rapid COVID-19 response in collaboration with frontline implementers across Yemen, Bangladesh, Niger, and Chad.

Humanitarian crises bring forth complex challenges, impacting public health, safety, the environment, and the economy. The COVID-19 pandemic intensified these challenges, necessitating resources, coordination, and organization like never before. In response, the Frontline Implementers Support Network for SRH (Sexual and Reproductive Health) in humanitarian crises launched a rapid Human-Centered Design (HCD)-led research project. The goal was to create a vibrant online community of practice among SRHR implementers for resource sharing, coordination, and organization, informed by HCD research. Engaging members from around the world, the research utilized digital social tools like WhatsApp and Zoom to conduct interviews with participants from Yemen, Bangladesh, Niger, and Chad. Qualitative data were analyzed and synthesized into 6 key opportunity areas, including addressing information inequality, coping with emotional stress and trauma, and fostering member-led initiatives. The Inter-Agency Working Group (IAWG) looks forward to continuing this co-creative development of the Frontline Implementers Support Network to make a positive impact on humanitarian crises.
